SlangIt! is a crossword-style board game where you score points by placing letter tiles to form words. Think classic word games — but slang words earn massive bonus multipliers.
Play against one of three AI opponents, each with a unique personality and skill level.
The Board
18×18 grid — bigger than the traditional 15×15
120 tiles in the bag (including 2 blanks)
8-tile rack — two more than the traditional 7
The center star must be covered by the first word
Placing Words
Drag tiles from your rack onto the board, or tap a tile then tap a cell
Words must be placed in a straight line — horizontal or vertical
Every new word must connect to tiles already on the board (except the first turn)
All cross-words formed must also be valid
No repeated words — once a word is played, it cannot be played again (but adding suffixes like -S, -ED, -ING to an existing word is allowed)
Valid Words
Standard English words from the dictionary are always valid
Slang words — words found on Urban Dictionary (but NOT in the standard dictionary) count as valid slang and earn bonus multipliers
Slang must be 4+ letters to qualify
No abbreviations — shortened forms like "lol" or "brb" are not valid
No proper nouns — names of people or places are not valid
Scoring
Each letter has a point value (A=1, B=3, Q=10, Z=10, etc.). Your word score is the sum of its letter values.
Bonus Squares
2LDouble Letter — doubles that tile's value
3LTriple Letter — triples that tile's value
Letter bonuses only apply when you place a new tile on them. They don't count again on later turns.
Slang MultipliersWhat Makes SlangIt! Different
When you play a slang word, the entire word score gets multiplied:
2×3–4 letters
3×5–6 letters
4×7+ letters
Slang multipliers stack on top of any letter bonuses. A long slang word on a Triple Letter square can be devastating.
GOAT Move
Use all 8 tiles from your rack in a single turn for a GOAT Move — earn a +50 point bonus on top of your word score.
Other Actions
Shuffle — rearrange your rack tiles randomly
Recall — pull all placed tiles back to your rack
Exchange — swap selected tiles for new ones from the bag (ends your turn, counts as a pass)
Pass — skip your turn (click twice to confirm)
Blank tiles — can represent any letter (worth 0 points). You choose the letter when you place them.
Game End
The game enters a Final Round when the tile bag is empty
The game ends when both players pass or exchange on 3 consecutive turns with no points scored
Unplayed tiles in your rack are subtracted from your score
Highest score wins
